Erhardt "Art" Malchow

AMBOY — Erhardt "Art" Malchow, 88, of Amboy passed away Friday, December 6, 2013, at his home to be united with God and reunited his wife Jackie, the love of his life.

  Art graduated from Amboy High School in 1944 and enlisted in the Army to serve in WWII until his discharge in 1946. He married Jackie Wilder in 1947 and farmed until his retirement in the mid-90s. Art was devoted to God, country, his wife and family, and had many interests. He became an avid runner at age 49, running races throughout Minnesota for many years, and continuing to exercise to the day he died. He was also an avid reader, with a special interest in non-fiction, WWII and other historical events.

  He was preceded in death by his wife Jackie, brother Gerhardt, sister Leola Winters, and son-in-law Donald Maxam. He is survived by his children Jeff Malchow of Mankato, Vickie Maxam of Minneapolis, Ron & Karen Malchow of Amboy, Kay Malchow & Stephen Cook of Minneapolis, sister Cordelia Pahl of Amboy, 3 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

  A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Amboy, with Rev. Rudy Maurer Jr. officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour before the service at the church in Amboy. Burial will follow at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Amboy. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Salvation Army.
