AMBOY — Dave was born in 1929 in Mankato to Max and Violet Boyce. He married Doris Backlund and together they raised three children, Bruce Boyce of Waseca, MN, Alec Boyce of Sioux Falls, SD, and Nanilee Robarge of San Francisco, CA. They have five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

He led an active and committed life as a citizen of Mankato and the world. He cherished the many friendships he made while at Backlund's, Mankato's Home of Music and while at Lutes Travel. He traveled extensively.

Somewhat true to Dave's nature, he willed his body for research a year ago when he was diagnosed with myleodplastic syndrome at Rochester Mayo Clinic. Hopefully his gift of life will help with medical research.

There will be a Celebration of His Life at Blue Bricks, 424 S. Front St. the former site of Backlund's on Saturday, Dec. 28, at 2:00 pm. There will be a graveside service at Glenwood Cemetery at a later date to be announced. Any memorials in his name could be given to Special Olympics, MN, P.O. Box 626, Albert Lea, MN 56007 or the Local Back Pack Food Program, P.O. Box 5275, Mankato, MN 56002 or the Mankato Hospice Program, an invaluable support.
