— Bernard 'Bernie' Regenscheid
Madison Lake resident, Bernard "Bernie" Regenscheid, age 77, died Friday, February 7, 2014 at his home. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 10, at All Saints Catholic Church in Madison Lake.
Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at the church and will continue one hour before services on Monday. Woodland Hills Funeral Home in Mankato is handling arrangements. Memorials are preferred to All Saints Catholic Church in Madison Lake.
Bernie was born July 8, 1936 in Cleveland, MN to Joseph and Esther (Harty) Regenscheid. He graduated from Cleveland High School and after serving in the U.S. Navy, he attended night school at Mankato State for 10 years, graduating in 1976 with a degree in Accounting. On February 23, 1957 he married Patricia McClane in Mankato. He was a highway engineer for Blue Earth County Highway Department for 44 years and, among other things, helped build the Rapidan Bridge.
Bernie had a very strong faith in the Lord and was an unselfish, very generous person. He always made sure that his family was safe and well taken care of. He enjoyed reading, working outside, fixing cars, dancing, playing cards, watching sports, and every year attending the Minnesota State Fair. He especially loved spending time with his family at the lake.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; sons, Jim (Doris) Regenscheid of Mankato, Mike (Julie) Regenscheid of Lino Lakes, MN; daughters, Ann Regenscheid of Minneapolis, Ellen (Russell) Brunz of Mankato, Nancy (Bill) Shay of Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Kent Regenscheid, Tyler Regenscheid, Jeremy Regenscheid, Tom (Kaycee) Mead, Kristin Mead and Bryant Brunz; great grandson, Camron Sanders; brother, Andrew (Mary) Regenscheid of Montgomery, MN; cousin, Betty (Denis) Schmeig of Chanhassen, MN; aunt, Anna Harty; sister-in-law, Audrey Stifter of Farmington, MN; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joe.
