Harold "Whitey" J. Knutson




   Harold  "Whitey" J. Knutson, 73, Eagle Lake, died Thursday, February 7, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health System Mankato.  Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Eagle Lake with Rev. Mary Iverson officiating.  Visitation will be held 4:00 -   8:00 p.m. Monday, February 11, 2013, at Woodland Hills Funeral Home and continue one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park.  Woodland Hills Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

   Harold was born February 11, 1939, to Edward and Hilka (Winter) Knutson in Buffalo Center, IA.  On April 23, 1960, he was united in marriage to Janet Garver in Mankato.  Harold worked as a welder for Kato Engineering for 35 years.  He was a member of NCTA Snowmobile Club, Key City Conservation Club, the NRA, North American Fishing Club, Pheasants Forever, and was a founding member of State and Local MDHA.  In his free time he enjoyed gardening, working on cars, snowmobiling, fishing, hunting, camping but especially, spending time with his family, grandkids, and friends.

  He is survived by wife, Janet Knutson of Eagle Lake; sons, Dennis (Kathy) Knutson of Albert Lea, David (Angel) Knutson of Eagle Lake, and Timothy (Joy) Knutson of Eagle Lake; daughters, Sheila (Mike) Roozen of Mankato and Susan (Shon) Muecke of Fulda; twelve grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, four great grandchildren; sisters, Edith Harpestad of Wells and Betty (Robert) Werner of Wells; sister in-law, Pat Knutson of Wells; and numerous nieces and nephews.

   Harold is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Alice Doerr; brother, Kenneth Knutson and great grandson William Johnson.
