The article on “the world’s tallest Christmas tree” in the Nov. 24 edition of The Free Press included a picture of the Mankato Children’s Chorus singing for this event. As a member of the board of MCC, as well as a choir parent, I was stunned to see the caption identifying the chorus simply as “a children’s choir.”

As almost 2,000 people stood that evening in the shivering cold, those children from this elite group of some of Mankato’s best singers sang their hearts out. They had practiced for hours for this night.

And everyone there knew who they were. Everyone, that is, except for The Free Press reporter covering the event.
