Food production better

in our own hands

This is in response to the article published Monday about Monsanto and the tight grip it wields over our food production.

With Monsanto holding the “rights” to 90 percent of corn genetics, the real issue is whether or not we want a company to manufacture, on the most basic level, our food. And let’s hope that this is not another company that has become “too big to fail.” With only a few types of corn and soybean available, what would happen if there were a corn blight or a soybean disease that we could not cure?

If we have bred out all diversity, it will be very scary if our monoculture should fail. I have decided I am not going to trust a multi-billion dollar company to my food manufacturing and production. I will do it myself.
