ST. PETER — Saturday's St. Peter Halloween Fun Run was a stark contrast to last week's Mankato Marathon. Technical running clothes and tennis shoes dominated last weeks marathon attire, while Halloween costumes from the zany to the clever were the order of the day Saturday.
More than 1,500 runners tried out their Halloween costumes in Saturday's 5K Fun Run and Lil' Monster Dash. The event, now in its 10th year, has grown to include live music, a Spookyville area for kids and awards for the best costumes. This year's event added a flash mob of ghouls and goblins dancing to Michael Jackson's hit song "Thriller."
Proceeds from the event help the St. Peter Recreation Department's youth scholarship program, the St. Peter Food Shelf and the Creative Play Place.
