MSU advances to NCC baseball title game

— Minnesota State University’s Jimmy Dale won a pitchers’ duel Saturday against St. Cloud State’s Matt Swanson, propelling the Mavericks to the 2-1 victory and advancing them to the championship game of the North Central Conference Baseball Tournament.
Dale — the reigning NCC Pitcher of the Week — worked a complete game for MSU, scattering five hits and walking two while striking out a career-high eight batters. It was his fifth win of the season.
Minnesota State (27-22) advances to play rival Nebraska-Omaha at 11 a.m. today for the NCC championship at Boys Town Park. MSU must win twice to earn the title.
