Chase Brown smacked the decisive two-run single and Geno Glynn set the side down in order in the ninth as Waseca squeaked out a 9-8 Southern Minny League victory over the Austin Greyhounds Wednesday in an amateur baseball game.
Trailing 6-2 in the bottom of the seventh, the Braves erupted for five runs to take the lead. Jimmy Loonan keyed the rally with a three-run double.
Austin came back with two runs in the top of the eighth of retake the lead 8-7. In the bottom half of the inning, Waseca loaded the bases with two outs before Brown ripped a two-run single.
Glynn, who had come in the eighth inning, did not allow a baserunner in the ninth to get the win. Bryan Murphy and Scott Kaminski finished with three hits apiece for the Braves. Brown and Steve Hovland each had two hits.
Waseca (9-10) hosts the Minneapolis Blue Sox at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Tink Larson Field.
