Bethany drops 2 at UMAC tourney

DULUTH — Northwestern rallied for five runs in the top of the eighth inning to down Bethany Lutheran 8-5 in the first round of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference baseball tournament Friday.

The Vikings were then eliminated from the tournament 3-2 by Martin Luther.

Joe Tuholsky and Cody Ferm had two hits apiece for Bethany. Teammate Mitch Sellers knocked in two runs.

Garrett Benson took the loss, allowing four earned runs on seven hits, striking out eight and walking one in seven innings.

Against Martin Luther, Frm took the loss, pitching the first eight innings. Clint Arentz had two hits, and Lucas Herd and Ferm each had an RBI.

Andrew Nemmers pitched a complete game for Bethany, allowing seven hits and three walks with seven strikeouts. One run was earned. William Jensen, Jake Ziel and Joe Janke each had two hits, and Galen Holzhueter and Aaron Stokke had the RBIs.
