Superior shuts out Bethany

MANKATO – Wisconsin-Superior goalkeeper Kalea Hatlewick stopped eight shots to shut out Bethany Lutheran in a nonconference women's soccer game Tuesday a the BLC field.

Bethany outshot Superior 25-6 and had seven corner kicks to none for the Yellowjackets.

Superior scored the game's lone goal in the 59th minute. Chelsea Cossin scored it off assists from Taylor Piechocki and Shelby Coombs.

Goalkeeper Alexa Mowery finished with two saves for Bethany (1-3).


The Bethany men's golf team won the Northwestern Invitational on Mondaym, and the women's team took third.

Jon Pederson led the Bethany men, shooting the best round of the tournament with an even-par 71 at Gross National Golf Course. The Vikings finished just one stroke better than Crown, winning with a total of 309 strokes.

The women shot a team score of 419. Chelsea Green led Bethany with a 95, good enough for third place individually.

Bethany will play in the Cougar Invitational at 1 p.m. Thursday. The men will play at the Benson Golf Club, and the women will play at the Pomme De Terre Golf Club.
