Gustavus, Bethany fall in men's soccer

ST. PETER — The Gustavus Adolphus men's soccer team hosted Wartburg College Tuesday and fell 2-1.

The Gusties were tied 0-0 at halftime before taking a 1-0 lead in the second half on a goal scored by Patrick Roth. Konnor Tranoris had the assist.

Wartburg quickly answered with a goal three minutes later. The visitors then scored the game winner at the 71:03 mark.

Brett Ylonen saved five shots in the loss. Keenan Smith made one save for the win.

Gustavus (5-2-1) is at St. John's on Saturday.

Bethany men: Bethany Lutheran fell 5-0 to Carleton College in Northfield on Tuesday. All of Carleton's goals were scored in the first half.

Carleton held Bethany to just one shot on goal. Neil Bartholomay scored a pair of goals for the Knights in the dominating effort.

Bethany's goalkeeper Noah Heidorm saved nine shots in the loss.

Bethany (3-1) hosts Crown at Bethany field on Friday.
