Sleepy Eye downs Mankato National 6-4

MANKATO — Sean Mathiowetz was the winning pitcher as Sleepy Eye defeated Mankato American 6-4 in a Legion baseball game Monday at Wolverton Field.

Sleepy Eye scored three runs in the first, but Mankato tied the game in the second. Sleepy Eye took the lead for good with a two-run fourth.

Lee Marxen was the losing pitcher, allowing 10 hits and two walks with four strikeouts in six innings. Jordan Grams, Drew Quame and Cooper Wolfe each had two hits for Mankato.

Mankato American (3-4) plays a doubleheader against Mankato National on Wednesday at Franklin Rogers Park, starting at 5:30 p.m.
