MINOT, N.D. —
Minnesota State survived a last-second 3-point attempt to defeat Minot State 83-82 in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference women’s basketball game Saturday.
The Mavericks led 42-41 at halftime and used an early 17-2 run to open the lead with 13:45 remaining in the second half. However, Minot State continued to cut away at the lead before the Mavericks held on at the end.
Aubrey Davis led Minnesota State with 20 points, hitting 4 of 7 from 3-point range, and Ali Wilkinson scored 14 points, making 10 of 10 free throws. Karlee Gengenbacher and Steffaney Thomas contributed 11 points and 10 points, respectively. Thomas, starting in place of injured Jamie Bresnahan, led the team with six rebounds.
The Mavericks (16-4, 12-4 in Northern Sun) host Bemidji State on Friday and Minnesota Crookston on Saturday.
