MLC women fall to Buena Vista University 88-74

STORM LAKE, IOWA — Leah Nass led the Martin Luther women’s basketball team with 16 points and eight rebounds in the 88-74 loss to Buena Vista University Tuesday night in Storm Lake Iowa.

Erin Schmeling had 12 points and nine assists, while Hannah Hackbarth finished with 14 points, including four 3-pointers.

Buena Vista owned a 54-30 advantage in rebounds and shot 50 percent from the field.

The Knights (3-1) will begin two-game homestand this weekend, beginning Friday with a game against Wartburg College followed by a Saturday afternoon game against Central College.

Buena Vista men 108, Martin Luther 55: Martin Luther started slowly and couldn’t turn things around in a nonconference loss at Buena Vista.

The Beavers started the game on a 19-2 run and took a 51-22 halftime edge.

Luke Rothe led Martin Luther with 15 points, while Galen Holzhueter added 13 points. Todd Brassow grabbed a team-best eight rebounds to go with his six points.

Mrtin Luther (0-4) plays Friday at home against Wartburg.
