Keep hitting that wire until the bitter end

MANKATO — It’s never too late to improve your roster and it looks as if there may be some help on the wire at running back, wide receiver and quarterback.

The biggest injury of the week happened in Chicago where running back Matt Forte had to leave the game with an ankle injury. He was replaced by Michael Bush who should get plenty of carries the next couple of weeks.

Bush is probably already owned in your league but, in case he isn’t, snare him as quickly as possible.

In Denver, everybody thought rookie Ronnie Hillman would be the guy to replace the injured Willis McGahee (who was placed on IR last week). That thinking turned out to be wrong as Knowshon Moreno proved to be the man with 24 carries for 111 yards on Sunday.

At this point, just about any primary running back is good pick up so don’t be afraid to grab Moreno.

Over in Arizona, Beanie Wells returned to the field after an extended stint on injured reserve and delivered two rushing touchdowns. He may still be hanging around your waiver wire so go and get him.

At the wide receiver position, Washington’s Pierre Garcon seems to have overcome his foot problems and is once again a viable fantasy starter. He had five catches for 93 yards and a score against Dallas. With another good matchup against Philadelphia this week, Garcon could help a lot of fantasy teams.

Detroit’s Ryan Broyles was most likely acquired  a week or two ago in your league but if he’s out there he can be a quality addition. Like Garcon, Broyles broke out with six catches for 126 yards Sunday. The Lions play Indianapolis this week so Broyles could be in line for another big game.

Cincinnati’s wideout Mohamed Sanu is also worth consideration. He has a knack for finding the end zone and is starting to develop chemistry with quarterback Andy Dalton. He may be inconsistent the rest of the way but, if you play him the right week, you might strike gold.

If Jacksonville’s Cecil Shorts is still available he should also get a serious look. He’s scored a touchdown in three straight games and has gone over 100 yards in two of them. With Buffalo and Miami on the horizon, Shorts should continue to post good numbers.

T.Y. Hilton of Indianapolis has scored five touchdowns in the last four games and seems to be drawing a lot of attention from QB Andrew Luck. The Colts play Detroit and Tennessee in the coming weeks. Enough said.

If New England’s Julian Edelman is able to come back this week he could be a sneaky pickup. With tight end Rob Gronkowski out, Edelman seems to be getting more opportunities. He had 64 yards and a score against the Jets. Anytime Tom Brady is your QB you have a decent shot to score points.

At the quarterback spot, Jacksonville’s Chad Henne has become relevant. He’s probably not good enough to start on your team but he may be better than the QB you have sitting on your bench.

San Francisco’s Colin Kaepernick is now 2-0 as a starter. He’s not lighting up the fantasy scoreboard just yet but he has a ton of upside. If head coach Jim Harbaugh decides to keep Alex Smith on the bench, Kaepernick could be good insurance for you.

Miami’s Ryan Tannehill threw for 253 yards and a score against Seattle last week and he has some favorable matchups the rest of the way. The Dolphins play Jacksonville and Buffalo in two of their next three games.
