EAU CLAIRE, WIS. —Tanner Rockwell went 3 for 5 with an RBI and a run scored as the Mankato MoonDogs won their third game in a row Friday, defeating the Eau Claire Express 6-5 in a Northwoods League baseball game.
The MoonDogs jumped out to a 6-1 lead after 2 ½ innings, scoring three times in the first and third innings.
Eric Schenck-Joblinske hit a three-run homer in the third inning.
The Express made it a close game with two runs in the fourth and two more in the seventh.
Brett Synek went 3 for 5 for the MoonDogs, and Tyler Sullivan was 2 for 5 with a run.
Taylor Elman got the win, allowing five runs on eight hits with a strikeout over six innings.
Tyler Mark pitched the ninth inning for the save, allowing one hit and striking out two.
The MoonDogs (24-15, 3-0 in second half) and the Express will play again at 6:35 p.m. today in Eau Claire.
