MoonDogs' streak ends at Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE, WIS. — Eau Claire scored four runs in the first inning and coasted to a 9-2 win over Mankato in a Northwoods League baseball game Saturday.

The loss ended the MoonDogs' three-game winning streak to open the second half of the season.

Ridge Smith had an RBI single in the third inning, and the MoonDogs' Patrick Massoni scored in the eighth inning on a passed ball. The MoonDogs had nine hits, with Derek Umphres collecting two.

Mankato starter James McMahon allowed five runs in 2 2/3 innings.

The MoonDogs play at Waterloo today.
