Rockwell's homer sparks MoonDogs

WATERLOO, IOWA — Tanner Rockwell's three-run homer highlighted a six-run eighth inning, and the Mankato MoonDogs defeated Waterloo 7-2 in a Northwoods League baseball game Sunday.

Rockwell was 3 for 5 with three RBIs. Derek Umphres added three hits and an RBI, and Peter Maris drove in two runs.

Alex Hackerott was the winning pitcher in relief, allowing one run on five hits with two strikeouts. Jacob Westerhouse got the final two outs, leaving the bases loaded.

The MoonDogs (4-1 in second half) play at Waterloo again today.
