Steffaney Thomas scored 15 points as the No. 25-rated Minnesota State University women’s basketball team overwhelmed Upper Iowa 76-59 in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference game Friday.
Minnesota State shot 58.3 percent in the first half to open a 47-27 lead, then used a 26-14 run over the first 10 minutes of the second half to stretch the lead to 32.
Thomas scored 11 of her points in the first half. Ali Wilkinson finished the game with 12 points and seven rebounds, and Ashley Olson had nine points and seven assists.
Minnesota State shot 56.1 percent for the game, including 7 of 14 from 3-point range.
The Mavericks (19-4, 15-4 in Northern Sun) play at Winona State at 4 p.m. today.
