MANKATO — Lee Marxen successfully stole home in the top of the seventh Monday, leading the Mankato Legion American Post 11 baseball team to a 4-3 victory and split of a doubleheader against Fairmont.
Mankato overcame five errors to win the nightcap at Franklin Rogers Park. Marxen pitched the final three innings to get the win without allowing an earned run.
Jordan Grams was 2 for 4 with a double and two runs scored. Drew Quame was also 2 for 4 with a double.
In the opener, Fairmont won 3-2. Mark Korteum took the loss, giving up two earned runs and five hits in 6.1 innings.
Pat Rohlfing had a two-run single for American in the bottom of the seventh.
Mankato (6-9) plays a doubleheader Friday against Holy Family Catholic at Wolverton Field. Starting time is 5:30 p.m.
