Sixth-seeded Chanhassen knocks off West

— Sixth-seeded Chanhassen knocked off No. 1 seed Mankato West 4-3 Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Section 2AAA softball tournament at Caswell Park.

Chanhassen scored the winning run in the sixth when Leah Husemoen doubled home Nicole Johnson. Elin Ellefson got the win, allowing just three hits and striking out six.

Missy Elkins took the loss, giving up two earned runs on five hits over three innings. Jessica Goerger led the West attack with an RBI single in the first inning and a solo home run in the fourth.

West (15-6) plays Minnetonka at 2 p.m. Saturday in an elimination game.in play at 4 p.m.
