Thielen waived by Vikings

EDEN PRAIRIE — Adam Thielen, the former Minnesota State receiver, was among 19 players released Saturday as the Vikings pared the roster to 53.

There were two other receivers who also were waived: Stephen Burton and Rodney White. The Vikings kept five receivers: Greg Jennings, Jerome Simpson, Jarius Wright, Joe Webb and Cordarrelle Patterson.

Other players released Saturday were tight end Colin Anderson, running back Joe Banyard, safety Brandan Bishop, offensive lineman Travis Bond, cornerback Brandon Burton, defensive tackle Everett Dawkins, safety Darius Eubanks, cornerback Bobby Felder, tight end Chase Ford, offensive lineman Brandon Keith, defensive tackle Anthony McCloud, linebacker Tyrone McKenzie, offensive lineman Kevin Murphy, defensive tackle Spencer Nealy, defensive end D’Aundre Reed and defensive end Collins Ukwu.

Thielen played in each of the four preseason games, though he made only two catches for 27 yards. He is a candidate for the eight-man practice squad, which will be announced today.
