MANKATO — The sixth-ranked Minnesota State soccer team picked up a key regional victory over 11th-rated Central Missouri Sunday, downing the Mules 3-0 at The Pitch.

Freshman Kiana Nickel scored her first two career goals in the game. MSU broke a scoreless tie in the 63rd minute with a goal by Courtney Vallarelli.

Nickel gave the Mavericks a 2-0 lead in the 70th minute and then tacked on an insurance goal 16 minutes later.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Three Mavericks finished atop the leaderboard as the Minnesota State women’s golf team opened with a season-opening win at the Augustana Fall Invitational on Sunday.

Juniors Tabitha Kunst (77-72) and Dani Selberg (75-74), along with sophomore Kanya Sethasompobe (74-75) all finished with 36-hole totals of 149 in tying for first place at the tournament held at Bakker Crossing.
