HAM LAKE — The Gustavus Adolphus men’s golf team turned in the second lowest round on Sunday with a 303 to finish second overall with a two-day team score of 616 (+40). The Gusties moved up two spots from a fourth place standing after shooting a 313 on Saturday.
The University of Manitoba finished first with a 581 and Saint John’s was third with a 618.
Leading Gustavus was Matt Jensen who placed 11th with a score of 152 (+8). Tyler McMorrow finished a tie for 15th with a two-day 154 (+10).
Rounding out Gustavus’ top five scoring individuals were Andrew Brandt (t-19th, 155), Lee Bystrom (t-19th, 155) and Andrew Oakes (46th, 157).
The Gusties are back in action this weekend when they compete in the St. John’s Invitational.
Women’s golf: The Gusties concluded their weekend in South Dakota with a fifth place finish at the Augustana Fall Invitational in Sioux Falls. Gustavus turned in a final score of 641 (+73). Minnesota State won the competition with a 602.
The Gusties were led by junior Sam Falk who finished in a tie for 13th with a score of 157 (+15). Gustavus’ Lauren Johnson was tied for 17th (158) and was followed by Liz Strom (t-23, 160).
The Gusties will be back on the links this weekend at the Division 3 Classic in Lake City.
Men’s soccer: The Gusties and host University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh played to a 0-0 tie on Sunday.
Both teams had five shots on goal. Brett Ylonen earned the shutout for Gustavus while Sam Gabrilska did the same for UWO. UW-Oskosh has now shut out all four of its opponents this season.
Gustavus (2-1-1) plays again at 5 p.m. Wednesday in New Ulm against Martin Luther College.
