West golfer ties for medalist honors at Owatonna

---- — OWATONNA — Mankato West’s Matt Newman shot a 76 and was part of a three-way tie for medalist honors at Big Nine Conference triangular Tuesday at Owatonna Country Club.

Owatonna won the meet with a 319 strokes. Albert Lea shot a 329, and West had a team score of 335.

Newmann tied with Albert Lea’s Lucas Peterson and Owatonna’s Pete Jones.

New Ulm 317, St. Peter 363: New Ulm’s Jonah Cooper was the medalist with a 76 as New Ulm defeated St. Peter in a South Central Conference match at Shoreland Country Club.

The Eagles’ Kelton Schmitz had a 77, and the Saints’ Peder Johnson carded an 84.

St. Clair Tri: Dylan Prange was the medalist with a 42, leading St. Clair to the win in a Valley Conference boys golf triangular at Terrace View Golf Course.

St. Clair had a team score of 200. Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial was second with 201 and Granada-Huntley-East Chain shot a 208. Carter Richards led LCWM with a 44 and Michael Dallager was low-man for GHEC with a 44.

Madelia quad: Madelia’s Jordan Henry shot a 1-over-par 37 to earn medalist honors at Madelia Golf Course.

Madelia and Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton each shot team scores of 174 to tie for the win. Maple River shot a 183.

JWP’s Ben Schuller took second with a 38. Madelia’s Mike Sorenson and JWP’s Kyle Schoneck each shot a 41, and St. James Area’s Mason Collier carded a 47.

Blooming Prairie tri: United South Central’s Seth Olson was the medalist with a 35 and helped his team win a three-team meet at Oakview.

The Rebels shot a 155, Blooming Prairie shot a 181 and New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva shot a 202.
