West splits pair of games

MANKATO — Section rival Prior Lake sent a message Tuesday as it shut out Mankato West 10-0 in a nonconference softball game at the West field. The Scarlets rebounded with an 8-1 Big Nine Conference win over Faribault.

In the Prior Lake game, Morgan Rykken scattered seven hits, struck out four and walked one to get the win. Lexy Schoper and Callie Looft had two hits apiece for West.

In the win over Faribault, Bree Black fanned three and allowed just one hit through three innings to get the decision. She also had two hits.

Schoper ripped three hits and scored twice ad Kinzie Scearcy had a three-run double in the second. West (14-5, 11-1 in Big Nine) plays for the Big Nine championship at 7 p.m. Friday.
