NEW ULM — The Martin Luther women’s basketball team snapped its three-game losing streak on Thursday, downing Viterbo University of La Crosse, Wis., 77-72.
Jenna Engh led the Knights with a game-high 34 points while Sami Weaver had a team-high 15 rebounds and five steals. Ally Ostrander and Weaver each recorded four assists.
MLC men: Martin Luther was led by the 26-point performance of Galen Holzhueter, but fell 89-77 to Viterbo in New Ulm.
The Knights’ Luke Rothe scored 18 points and had a team-high 10 rebounds and six assists. Josh Lidner scored 16 points with two rebounds and two assists. MLC’s Austin Eisenmann had a game-high four blocks.
The Knights (0-3) play Buena Vista in Storm Lake, Iowa, on Dec. 3.
BLC women: In a game played Wednesday, Bethany Lutheran dropped a 101-53 decision to Bethel in Arden Hills despite three players in double figures.
Jade Pelzl led the Vikings with 16 points, Kasslin Swenson had 14 points and Angie Scheffler scored 12. Swenson had 11 rebounds and made 10 of 11 free throws.
The Vikings(1-1) travel Iowa to play the University of Dubuque at 2 p.m., Saturday.
Gustavus women: In a game played Wednesday, Gustavus Adolphus downed Wisconsin-River Falls 77-56 at Lund Center in St. Peter.
Four players scored in double figures for the Gusties. Julia Dysthe had 18 points and Britta Rinke added 17. Rachelle Blaschko and Dysthe each recorded four steals and four assists.
Gustavus plays again at 1 p.m. Saturday at the University of Minnesota-Morris.
