Tommies' pitchers shut down Gustavus

ST. PAUL — Gustavus Adolphus managed only nine hits Monday, losing a pair of MIAC baseball games at St. Thomas.

The Gusties lost the opener 12-2, then fell 4-0 in Game 2.

In the first game, Taylor Bigandt had a hit and RBI, and Matt Lilledahl drove in a run. David Tranvik and Max Laureno each had a hit. Justin Cunningham took the loss, allowing seven earned runs in one inning.

Gustavus had six hits in the second game, with Cody Christensen getting a double. Tim Miller, Logan Peymann, Bigandt, Laureno and Sam Warner. Jake Volness pitched five innings, giving up four earned runs with eight hits and three walks with one strikeout.

Gustavus (12-19, 9-7 in MIAC) hosts Macalester today.
