Winona State pulls away late to down Northeastern State

Winona State outscored Northeastern State 24-8 over the final 11 minutes to win 70-57 in the quarterfinals of the Central Region tournament.

Winona State led by 10 at halftime, but the RiverHawks tied the game at 46 with 11 minutes remaining.

Clayton Vette led the Warriors with 18 points and eight rebounds. Xavier Humphrey added 15 points, and Grant Johnson scored 13 points. Winona State was 7 of 15 from 3-point range, with Humphrey making three, including two in the final four minutes.

Bryton Hobbs led Northeastern with 17 points, and Jermaine Bransford had 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Winona State (25-7) takes on Augustana at 5 p.m. today in the tournament semifinals.
