GAC vaulter places third at nationals

LA CROSSE, WIS. — Gustavus Adolphus pole vaulter Josh Owens placed third in the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday.

Owens earned his second All-American honor (his first came during this year’s indoor season) by clearing 16 feet, 2 1/4 inches. He is the second Gustavus pole vaulter to take All-American honors, joining Josh Gysbers, who took seventh place in 2003.

Also Thursday, Gustavus women’s pole vaulter Ally Voss competed but did not clear a height.
