Northwest Missouri 98, Winona State 77

Northwest Missouri State hits six 3-pointers in the first 10 minutes to open a 26-10 lead and rolled past Winona State in the final quarterfinal game Saturday.

The Bearcats led by 20 before Kellen Taylor's dunk and 3-pointer pulled Winona State within 12, but the lead was back at 15 at halftime. Winona State cut the lead to 12 a couple times in the second half, but Northwest Missouri answered each time.

DeShaun Cooper led the Bearcats with 29 points, and Dillon Starzle scored 20. Northwest shot 61.5 percent and made 11 of 20 from 3-point range.

Riley Bambanek and Isaiah Gray each scored 16 points for Winona State, and Kelle Taylor had 12 points and seven rebounds.

Northwest Missouri (23-8) takes on No. 1 seed Minnesota State in the region semifinals at 7:30 p.m. today.
