---- — ST. PETER — Darin Doherty will be the principal at North Intermediate School in St. Peter after two years at the head of South Elementary, the district announced Tuesday.
He had previously taught at North, which includes grades 3-6, for 15 years, Supt. Jeff Olson said.
He said the district was looking for someone who understood both early childhood literacy and adolescent development. It also helps that he’s adept at social media, which parents are increasingly relying on, Olson said.
He starts the job July 1 and takes over for Karen Coblentz, who resigned at the end of 2013. Retired principals Nancy Kluck and Bill Dixon are sharing interim duties at North until the school year ends.
