The three remaining sections of flooded state highways in the Minnesota River Valley will need varying types of repair work prior to opening, according to Minnesota Department of Transportation officials.
Henderson area highways that remain closed include Highway 19 between Henderson and Highway 169 and Highway 93 between Henderson and Highway 169 and between Highway 169 and Le Sueur.
The water has receded in the area between Highway 169 and Le Sueur. A roadway damage assessment is underway and repairs have begun on the shoulders that were washed out. MnDOT hopes to open that section of Highway 93 later this week.
The section of Highway 93 from Henderson to Highway 169 experienced significant erosion and debris. In addition, a section of the pavement and roadbed has washed away.
Rains and flooding caused significant damage on a Highway 19 hill. MnDOT is developing potential options for repair and stabilization. The scope of the work and the timeline are uncertain at this time.
The Highway 99 Bridge in St. Peter re-opened to traffic Sunday morning. Concerns about high water caused MnDOT officials to close the bridge for several days.
