ST. PETER — Kelton Schmitz shot a 74 at Shoreland County Club on Monday, leading New Ulm to the championship of South Central Conference boys golf tournament.
Schmitz was the medalist as the Eagles finished with 315 strokes. Fairmont was second (329), followed by St. Peter (338), Waseca (364), Blue Earth Area (365) and St. James Area (391.
Following Schmitz on the leader board were Josh Baldus of Fairmont (76), Matt Saffert of New Ulm (78), Josh Kummerfeldt of Waseca (80) and Jonah Cooper of New Ulm (80).
Rounding out the top 10 were Joe Nordquist and Carter Welchlin of Fairmont (81), Cole Miller and Chris Amsden of St. Peter (82) and Josh Cooper and Tanner Zupfer of New Ulm (83).
Mitch Rettke had the low round for St. James with an 88 and Connor Thielfoldt led Blue Earth Area with an 89.
SCC girls: Lizzie Larson shot an 85 on Monday to earn medalist honors and lead Fairmont to the championship of the South Central Conference meet in St. Peter. Teammate Megan Rosol New Ulm’s Corrine McKeeth tied for second with 89s.
Fairmont won with 373 strokes. Blue Earth Area shot an even 400 to finish second and was followed by Waseca (403), St. Peter (408), St. James (445) and New Ulm (448).
Autumn Drake led BEA with a low round of 91. Teammate Natalie Fellows was second for the Bucs with a 98.
St. Peter’s Zoey Bartlett shot a 98. The Saints Karly Maier and Anna Amos both shot a 99.
Waseca was led by Sydney O’Brien (97) and Melizza Bartz (98). Lyndsey Haler had the low round for St. James Area with a 105.
