Donald Thomas Weldon, 84, of Belle Plaine, died Monday, September 24, 2007 at Queen of Peace Hospital in New Prague. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of the Prairie Church in Belle Plaine with burial in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Belle Plaine. Visitation will be 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and 9:00 –10:15 a.m. Thursday at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine.

Mr. Weldon was born on June 5, 1923, in Blakeley Township of Scott County to William E. and Alice (Mahoney) Weldon. He was a 1944 Graduate of Belle Plaine High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1945 and was discharged in May 1946 serving in the Sea Bee Construction Battalion in Okinawa. He married Mary Ruth Kilduff on May 1, 1948, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in St. Thomas, Minnesota. He worked at the Belle Plaine Implement as parts man until 1968 when he went to work at Malkersons in Shakopee until his retirement in 1986.

He was a past member of the Belle Plaine Fire Department, serving five of 24 years as its chief. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was an active member of Our Lady of the Prairie Church in Belle Plaine. He enjoyed fishing. He loved his children and grandchildren.

Mr. Weldon is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Shelly Maurer, brothers; John and Robert Weldon, and a sister, Dorothy Denzer.

He is survived by his wife Mary Ruth Weldon of Belle Plaine, children: Brendan (Nancy) Weldon of Belle Plaine, Susie (Jim) Anderson of Apple Valley, Julie Cooper of Farmington, Carolyn (Jeff) Smith of Chanhassen, son-in-law Jerry (Mary) Maurer of Carlton, 10 grandchildren, sister: Eileen De Laere of Belle Plaine.i
