Elvera N. Pettis

Elvera N. Pettis, 81, formerly of St. Peter died Sunday, March 25th at SouthView Living Center in Gibbon.

Funeral service will be 3:00 PM, Saturday: March 31, 2007 at St. Peter Funeral Home-Klein Chapel in St. Peter. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery with a lunch following committal services at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church (427 W. Mulberry). Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Elvera was born March 8, 1926 in Wanda, MN to August and Martha (Hale) Struckman. She graduated from Lamberton High School. On June 27, 1946 she married Wayne Pettis, they later divorced. Vera lived in St. Peter until 2004. She moved to Amberfield Apartments in Gaylord and on January 14, 2007 she moved into SouthView in Gibbon. Vera loved being with her grand and great-grandchildren, watching birds, collecting bird statues and butterflies. She was known for her “neatness” and was a very clever and witty lady who had her family and friends in stitches even to the end.

Surviving are her 3 daughters: Sandra and husband Robert (Bob) Maas, Debra and husband Thomas (Tom) Ewalt, and Gwen and husband Michael Gardner; 5 grandchildren: Steve Headlee, Scott Headlee, Julie Scheidter, Luke Ewalt and Adam Gardner; 4 great-grandchildren: Jessica Headlee, Michael Headlee, Mia Scheidter and Sophia Scheidter; 2 brothers; Harold and Glenn; sister, Evelyn and several nieces and nephews.
