NORTH MANKATO — Angie’s Boomchickapop has donated $25,000 to Mayo Clinic’s Breast Cancer Genome-Guided Therapy study, known as BEAUTY.
Mayo clinic researchers are working as part of the study to individualize breast cancer treatments based on patients’ genomes and the genomes of individual tumors.
Angie’s raised the money through sales of limited-edition, pink-ribbon popcorn bags.
Researchers in the BEAUTY study are working to understand genetic changes that occur over time in tumors resistant to chemotherapy. They hope to ultimately provide individualized treatment for women with breast cancer and apply the findings to improve therapy for other solid-organ cancers.
