Man arrested after shooting hole through pinkie

MANKATO — Police officers took a Mankato man from the hospital to jail Sunday morning after receiving a report he had put a hole through his pinkie finger with a gunshot.

Jodiah Jule Andresen, 21, was at Immanuel St. Joseph’s Hospital when police received a report of the incident at 3:39 a.m. Andresen allegedly told an officer he was unloading his 1911 .45-caliber handgun when it went off, putting a nickel-size whole through his finger.

When his roommate at the Cedar Ridge Apartment complex was interviewed, more bullet holes were found in the walls there. Andresen, who had a blood-alcohol concentration of .12 when he was arrested for illegal discharge of a firearm, said he didn’t know who was responsible for firing those rounds.

Shelter Xmas lights stolen

MANKATO — It’s pretty gutsy, stealing Christmas lights off a Humane Society tree just hours after they’re strung, but the animal shelter is hoping the community will respond with new lights.

The lights from the Blue Earth Nicollet County Humane Society were hung Sunday night and gone Monday morning, volunteer Don Nelson said.

It’s not really about the money, “just more about why would someone do that?” he said.

The shelter is accepting new lights between noon and 2 p.m. this Saturday.

“And some elbow grease.”
