Waseca police are still looking for answers regarding a frigid dog found in a Dumpster.

“We’ve interviewed a couple people. It’s still ongoing. We’re still trying to determine the truth,” Waseca Police Captain Penny Vought said.

The brown and white rat terrier mix was found about 10:30 p.m. Sunday by a Subway employee taking out the garbage. Andrew Hinna said he opened the lid on the trash bin and the dog began barking and growling.

He called police and the dog was taken to the Animal Medical Center in Waseca. The animal appeared healthy and is eating and drinking normally.

The dog wasn’t wearing a collar or tags.

Vought said the height of the garbage bin would suggest the dog was placed inside rather than entering on its own. It’s unknown how long the dog was in the bin.

Said Vought, “Our first concern was: Is this a prank? Is someone missing a dog?” Or the other option — that someone used the bin to rid themselves of a pet.
