MANKATO — An elderly man apparently suffered a medical emergency before he crashed into a building Friday morning.

Witnesses reported a driver who was westbound on Basset Drive and went off the road a little after 7 a.m., according to Mankato police. The vehicle struck a mailbox and a pole before striking the corner of Jerry's ABRA Auto Body and Glass.

CPR was performed on the driver and he was taken to the Mankato hospital. The name of the driver hasn't been released pending family notification.

No one was inside Jerry's at the time of the crash. The impact caused some structural damage to the building, Jerry's co-owner Geralynn Kottschade said.
