BLUE EARTH — Three people, including two 5-year-olds, suffered non-life threatening injuries after a semi-truck driver fell asleep at the wheel and rolled his vehicle Thursday morning east of Blue Earth.

The State Patrol reports James Paul Ricard, 48, of Blue Earth, and one of the 5-year-olds in the truck were taken to the nearby Blue Earth hospital while the other five-year-old was airlifted to Mayo Clinic Health System — St. Marys in Rochester.

Ricard was traveling southbound with the two passengers on 490th Avenue northeast of the Frost exit when he allegedly fell asleep and rolled the truck shortly after 11:30 a.m.

All three Blue Earth residents wore seatbelts, road conditions were dry and alcohol was not a factor in the crash, according to the State Patrol.
