A Mankato man injured in a fatal, four-vehicle crash is in fair condition as of Sunday.
Adam Gray, 30, was the passenger in a vehicle involved in a fatal accident last Wednesday on Highway 14 about three miles west of North Mankato.
According to the state patrol, a teenage driver of an eastbound pickup truck fell asleep at the wheel and drifted over the center line. Two out-of-state motorcyclists were killed. The teenager, whose name has not been released because criminal charges may be pending, was taken to the Mankato hospital.
The driver of a fourth vehicle — 68-year-old Bill Gray — remains at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. Adam Gray was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.
“Our injuries will require treatment and care in the months ahead, but we are encouraged by the medical progosis given at this time,” said Bill and Adam Gray in a joint written statement.
“We would like to express our concern for everyone involved in this tragic accident. Our family would like to send our prayers and heartfelt wishes out to all those involved in this accident and hope all can recover from the grief and injury as quickly as possible.”
A financial account has been established for the Gray family at Minnesota Valley Federal Credit Union in Mankato.
