Little information was available about a drug investigation that resulted in charges being filed against two Blue Earth County men Monday.

Nathaniel Thomas Franklin, 23, of Lake Crystal and Brian Conrad Henderson, 31, of Mankato were arrested Friday and Saturday, respectively, as a result of an ongoing Minnesota River Valley Drug Task Force investigation. Both men appeared in court at noon Monday for felony drug charges, but the criminal complaints filed against them at that time had not been processed as of Monday afternoon.

A news release issued by the Mankato Department of Public Safety said Franklin was arrested at the downtown Cub Foods store Friday. It did not say why Franklin was arrested or what time the arrest took place.

The release did say the investigation resulted in a search warrant being executed at Henderson’s residence in what was described as being in the 600 block of West Second Street in Mankato.

A warrant application filed Monday in Blue Earth County said drug task force agents used a confidential informant to buy a pound of marijuana from Henderson at his residence Thursday. Henderson allegedly gave the informant a pound of marijuana to sell with the agreement the informant would return with $850 in cash. Henderson also told the informant he had 13 more pounds of marijuana in the house, according to the application.

Several bags containing marijuana, a scale, plastic baggies and a box with a Brownsville, Texas, address label were among several things taken from Henderson’s house during the search. The list of items taken did not give the weight of the marijuana found.

Franklin was released on his own recognizance after appearing before Blue Earth County District Court Judge Bradley Walker Monday. Henderson’s bail was set at $1,000 with conditions or $10,000 without conditions.
