MANKATO — The principal of Mankato West High School is leaving at the end of the school year.
The Mankato School Board on Monday accepted David Lutz' resignation, effective June 30.
This is Lutz's second year leading the school. He deferred a request to comment on his departure to Eric Hudspith, the district's director of human resources.
Hudspith said Lutz is leaving to become a middle school principal in the Wayzata School District. Lutz was a teacher and an administrator in that district before coming to Mankato. Lutz served as an assistant principal at Mankato East High School for one school year before moving to West.
The district has begun accepting applications and expects to name a successor before Lutz departs, Hudspith said.
