Mantas swim meet-Bjork.jpg

Jake Bjork of the Mankato Mantas swim team had two solid efforts Friday in the A/B/C Finals meet at Tourtellotte Park. The meet resumes today and concludes Sunday.

Mankato West’s Jake Bjork may not have to report to high school swim practice until the end of November, but he’s already working on his skills.

The junior-to-be is participating in the Minnesota Swimming/USA A/B/C Finals meet this weekend at Tourtellotte Pool. On Friday, he finished second in the boys 800-yard freestyle with a time of 9:37.7 as a member of the Mankato Mantas swim team. The longest he’ll have to swim in high school is 500 yards, but he doesn’t mind swimming the extra laps.

“I like it better, actually, because my turns aren’t the best,” he said. “The extra time in the water helps me make up for the turns.”
